Solute!
En Garde?
Allez!
Do you familiar with that French? Or that words are quite new for you? Or maybe you have heard this word somehwere
No need to open your dictionary because this isn’t a French class, and the reason i’m here is i’d like to say ‘Do not fence the Fencing’!
Well, as we know Asian Games is counting down! And it’s almost starting! And I can’t wait to watch the performance from Female Sabre Team from Indonesia such as Diah Permatasari, Ima Safitri and Gaby Novita. I wish with these strong swords(wo)men could bring back our 3 Srikandi (Srikandi = female hero; in Indonesia this phrase refer to 3 beautiful Archery Athletes) especilaly make a new story in Indonesia’s Fencing.
Fencing isn’t well known in Indonesia compare to other foreign martial arts like Taekwondo, Karate, Muay Thai, Boxing and etc. Fencing known as a quite expensive sports (since it needs lot of equipments which can’t be found easily in Indonesia). In my opinion Fencing has lot of similarities with Kendo.
As a swords(wo)man i can’t hardly wait to see this match in Asian Games 2018, with 3 named mention before, i put a high expectation from them to bring medals for Indonesia. I have a unique quote that some of my friends like it too, it’s called ‘success needs sacrifice’. That quote i got from my mom, and i find it suits every swordsmen, since it takes a sacrifaction by spending more money to improve our skills, eventhough people find it weird or useless.
Just like Kendo, Fencing seems to have less known in many occassion in Indonesia (except for International Match). They both not only takes a shield and a sword as the main tools, but also concentration, speed, and strategy. That’s why in swordsman always heard ‘in a split of second you have to decide’.
Then why do i put high expectation with Female Sabre Team? For people who had read many articles or watch the match during the past Sports event, you won’t be surprised that the delegation from Indonesia in 2010 during the World Championships Cadets and Junior, which was held in Russia was Ima Safitri.
And Guess what!? The National Fencing Athletes from Indonesia warmed up for Asian Games 2018 by participating the Fencing World Championship 2018 which held in Shanghai, China on July 16th-19th 2018 and the Female athletes who particpates are them.
So, do you still doubt about Indonesia’s Fencing?
Oh come on, do not fence the fencing! Please don’t close your ears and distract your eyes from this Fencing match and let’s make Indonesia’s Fencing become well known to the World
Let’s support together The Asian Games 2018 and let the other participants knows that ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ is us, Indonesia.
